Professor Michael Felderer is the Director of the Institute of Software Technology at German Aerospace Center (DLR) and a full professor of computer science at the University of Cologne.
The goal of his research is to increase quality, resilience, compliance, and trustworthiness of software and AI systems in critical domains in general and space, aeronautics, automotive, critical infrastructures, and security in particular. His fields of expertise include quality assurance, risk analysis, security engineering, empirical software engineering as well as software systems engineering for AI, digital twin, and quantum technologies.
Previously, he was a professor at the University of Innsbruck (Austria), a guest professor at the Blekinge Institute of Technology (Sweden), and served as managing director and senior consultant for an academic spin-off specializing in software, security, and AI engineering.

Michael Felderer is recognized by the Journal of Systems and Software (JSS) as one of the twenty most active established Software Engineering researchers world-wide in the period 2013 to 2020.
